Carly Carlson
Interior Designer & Project Consultant
With 15+ years in 3D design, a BA (Hons) in Design, and CMI Level 3 Certification in Project Management, my work blends design, child advocacy, and social impact. I collaborated internationally on the Designing for Children’s Rights Guide and hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Child Protection. Starting in care work and children's services shaped my empathetic approach to design. Since then, I’ve designed exhibitions at Eureka! The National Children's Museum and for community impact - using design to challenge bias, break down stereotypes, and foster understanding in society. I’ve also worked on diverse freelance projects and now balance designing play spaces part-time with running my own business. As the founder of CiCi Carlson Design, I create child-friendly spaces that inspire calm, imagination, and exploration - whether in homes, schools, youth centres, or family-friendly businesses. My mission is simple: to design environments where children and young people can thrive, ensuring they are safe, playful, and sustainable. Beyond design, I love wellness, nature, music, reading, and, most of all, sharing time with my wonderful loved ones - preferably over a great curry!

PLAYFUL AESTHETICS Our signature style is characterised by vibrant colours, retro charm, raw aesthetics, and a keen eye for the unexpected. We draw inspiration from a wide array of sources, from 1960s counterculture to the innovative designs of modern play spaces.

Whether it's a children's playroom that sparks creativity, a restaurant with interactive installations, or a corporate office that embraces playful design elements to boost employee morale, we love the challenge of making every project a delightful experience.

We have extensive experience in designing for inclusivity & accessibility.
