We recently collaborated with Door 84 Youth & Community Centre’s 8-17 Youth group to gain valuable insights into their thoughts and preferences regarding the interior design of their space. Their key feedback directly informed the development of a new design concept. In addition to input from the youth group, we integrated observations and recommendations from Door 84 staff, as well as findings from previous studies - such as the Door 84 Reimagined document (created in partnership with York St John University) and Door 84’s internal Evaluation Report. Suggestions, including requests for features like a quiet room and more dedicated spaces for gaming and creative practice played a pivotal role in shaping the design. Throughout the process, accessibility and inclusion were carefully considered to ensure the space is welcoming and functional for all.
